This weeks focus is as follows:
Maths: We will be covering the topics of weight, money, time, 3D shapes and area in the coming weeks. I will be using a spiral approach to this as it seems to be benefiting the children greatly when we do this in the other part of our Maths. Being exposed to the same topics repeatedly gives them the exposure they need to remember how to do the sums. We are on week 23 of our Maths Moves programme. This is in the our lessons section of the website.
Irish: We will be covering prepositions for the next few weeks. We will also be learning the irregular Irish verbs. We will be reading some simple stories in class and focusing on answering the questions orally.
English: We will be focusing on our novel Machine Gunners. This is a book about WW2. We will be focusing on the strategy of clarifying in Building Bridges. In writing we will be doing a personal narrative piece of writing. Our poem is Class Gas.
SESE: We are currently covering Egypt in Geography, We will be finishing our topic of Ancient Egypt this week with the children presenting the group work they have done in class next week. In Science we will be mummifying an apple which examines to role of salt in preserving foods.
PE: We will be alternating between games and hurling until swimming starts in a few weeks.
Art: We will be finishing our collograph printing.
Drama: We are currently covering three Dramas and the groups will be rotating to different dramas each month. The groups are focused on performing these dramas for the next two weeks. We are starting three new dramas this week. The focus on Drama is to give them an opportunity to express themselves and also to perform and read in a fluent manner.
